Another appointment in Boulder, and this time I made us a picnic lunch: spinach and cheese 'dillas, apples and milk. I was hoping to hike as far as we'd gotten as a family at the beginning of the month, but we just made it to these rocks before the boys were starving and I was wiped out...I had Jonah in the baby backpack, a bag full of lunch in one hand, and Isaac insisted on holding my other hand. We were moving a little slowly, and the terrain rises steeply on the main trail...We got lots of smiles and kind looks, but it made my day when a guy passed us, looked at me, and said: "You're amazing!"
It didn't matter that the hike was short; the views are incredible here no matter where you are.
Isaac, taking in the sweeping view of Boulder Valley and the Great Plains beyond.
He loves to see the mountains and feel the wind in his hair. And then to run and run.
Jonah was happy to eat and watch the passing people.
But soon, little eyes started to droop, and it was time to leave.
Isaac cried because he didn't want to go, but I told him we'd be back soon.
