May 22 - New Hoody

Isaac got a new hoody in the mail from Deeda. It looked so cute and comfy, I pulled it out to show it to him. He then insisted on putting it on and keeping it on through naptime and meals. He cried when he had to take it off that night.
But really, this hoody looked sooo cute on him, of course I had to get out the camera and take lots of pictures.

For a while, he wanted the hood up.

Camera smile

Our street is finally getting green!

In front of our house...Isaac running away from the camera already.

Isaac took this one.

Walking in the alley, Isaac's favorite place for walks.

Very tired of all the pictures, running away again...

Backyard Helper

Isaac loves to help Adam with all his projects, and they share a love of all kinds of tools. They spent a lot of backyard time together when Adam was building a gate for the fence around our new garden.
Below, we did make him trade the chisel for something less sharp...

According to the little man, the small hammer is Isaac's hammer and the big one is Dada's hammer. Sometimes we have to redirect his hammering, but a nice piece of wood is always safe.

It's a good idea to wear gloves when you're working in the yard.

And be sure to wear old clothes if you're going to stand in the dog's water bucket and then roll on the ground.

A special smile for the camera.

Isaac loves his "taxi car." It goes everywhere with him.

Happiness is being outside with your family.

April 25-26, A few pictures from Grandma and Boopa's visit

Adam's parents came to see us for a at the end of April.
Isaac was very happy playing on the floor with his grandparents all weekend, so happy that he got mad and said "bye-bye mama" anytime I happened to pass by. The 3 of them had a great time playing with Isaac's toys, especially the beautiful wooden tool box Boopa and Grandma brought for him...What could be better than his own hammer, wrench, and pliers? And he can identify most everything in the toolbox by name, because he loves to "help" Adam with projects...
Below, puzzles with Grandma.

Mama and Dada? Who are they again?

April 23 - Picnic in the park

Oliver is one of Isaac's best buddies, and they are always excited to see each other. These are a few pictures of our picnic on a beautiful warm April day (sandwiched between more snowstorms - hopefully those are behind us now).

Twins!

Teamwork

I ran after Isaac as soon as I snapped the picture, but I felt compelled to document his independence...You can see the little figure in the white T-shirt getting very far away from me, and he never even looked back. Scary...but I guess it's a sign of confidence too!

I don't know if the pure white of Pike's Peak shows up well in this format, but it was a beautiful view as we walked back to our house.

April 17-19, More Charlotte pictures

The one food I requested from my mom while in Charlotte was waffles. Hers are by far the best I've had, and they are some trouble to make. They are so tender and light when they come off the iron, melt-in-your-mouth, incredibly good. Isaac was very happy with them too.

If Isaac sees you sitting on the floor (or sometimes a little chair, like above), he likes to come plop down next to you.

Playing Legos with Ba-Bop but still not letting go of that waffle. It was a perfect way to spend a cool, rainy Sunday morning.

Below, what you can't see is my mom jumping around and quacking every time Isaac makes his little duck quack...

This picture deserves a post all its own...This is why I adore my parents!

Post-waffle trip to the playground. My old elementary school.

My mom showed Isaac how to hoot like an owl, and he wanted to try it over and over.

Afternoon walks every day...Isaac noticed that Harley (big male Golden Retriever) was sniffing every blade of grass, and he thought it looked fun.

Stopping to think...

I love this empty lot. Wish they'd leave it this way. Or get a bunch of neighbors to buy the land together and make a non-profit community garden.

There are a lot of pictures of Isaac rolling in the grass, but it was heavenly for him...Our urban yards are pretty small in Denver. On our Charlotte walks, Isaac ran through every yard, spun circles and fell down happily, then rolled and rolled...So much space.

Showing us how you go night night...

Finally, permission to go ring a doorbell (a favorite activity).

Wildman getting ready for the airport...
