Dec 5: Decorating the Tree...and Jonah Walks!

On a Sunday night, we decorated our tree, while watching a Christmas movie and eating homemade pumpkin pie. It's always exciting to pull out all our favorite ornaments again, each one with a story or a treasured person behind it. That was lost on the boys, of course, but they had a great time with the bright lights and out-of-the-ordinary activities like having a big tree in our family room and getting to have the TV on for once. Isaac helped me hang up all the unbreakable ornaments on the lower branches. Jonah, meanwhile, picked up the wooden knife from a play food set and carried it around all night.

Good that it wasn't a real knife. Look at that impish grin.

Jonah had been so close to walking for months, leading me everywhere he wanted to go by a single hand, and cruising along the walls and furniture with ease. But tonight, finally, at age 14 months, he really started walking. First it was just a short distance from one safe spot to another, but within about 30 minutes, he was walking the circle around the downstairs and giggling.

Isaac was so proud of him too, grinning and cheering him on.

Here is Jonah playing peekaboo behind the door, looking pretty proud too.

Adam captured some of his first steps with his phone, which you can find in the video below.
