Isaac's music

I've mentioned that Isaac loves to make music, and we are his biggest fans. Sometimes the melodies he picks out on the piano are surprisingly beautiful - enough to make me stop what I'm doing and just listen. I know I'm a proud mama, but here's a video of some pretty piano-playing one evening:

His singing has also developed more lately as, in the past few months, he's learned the words to a lot of songs and sings them well enough that they are easily recognizable. Here are some of the songs he can sing now (I'm forgetting a bunch, I'm sure):

Ba Ba Black Sheep
Away in a Manger
Alphabet Song
Hello and Goodbye songs (music class)
Peanut Sat on a Railroad Track...(don't know the name)
Down by the Station
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Itsy Bitsy Spider

And some that he has made up:
Red Horse in a Wagon
3 Little Nonnies

And a video showing Isaac singing Itsy Bitsy Spider, exhaustively - only the true fans will sit through this 20 times! But it does show his dear little voice, which we love.

March 23 - Jonah finally gets solid food!

For weeks or even months, Jonah had been following our food from hand to mouth, gaping at us big-eyed. As his coordination developed, I'd find straws and plastic bags being pulled out of my hands - along with an occasional dive for an apple. He wanted some, long before I was ready to be tied to the high chair a few times a day. And with nutrition to back me up (babies don't need solids until at least 6 months, or even later), I made him wait. Finally, a few days before his half birthday, we put him in the high chair and made him some rice cereal.

At first, he seemed to be nursing the spoon - understandably. He only ate a teaspoon or so the first night, but I think he liked it.

March 7 - Holding Jonah

Recently, in a store, Isaac wanted to hold Jonah and "carry him around," I guess the way I do. That didn't seem like the best idea. The next time he asked, we were at home, so I let him hold Jonah - with a little help, of course.

A few March pics

Daily life...breakfast smiles. Hmm can't wait to change that wallpaper behind us.

Isaac loves to play in the backyard, and toward the end of March, the weather finally started warming up - meaning more time outside for all of us. One of Isaac's favorite outdoor activities: hanging in the hammock with his Dada.

We got to eat dinner with a favorite college friend who was passing through town, and Isaac dressed up for the occasion...He wore this all evening, including the walk to pick up our take-out Mexican.

Jonah's room, which we are still working on...

Isaac's Friday School (as opposed to Tuesday school, a different place) is a coop, so every family volunteers in the classroom once a month and also serves on a committee. We ended up on the cleaning committee by default, but it's actually kind of fun. Two weekends a month, it's our turn to clean the school. We get the place to ourselves, which is fun for Isaac. After he helps clean, he and Adam like to play with all the cool toys.

And here is Jonah, practicing sitting.
