This was Isaac's first time seeing the ocean, and he LOVED it. On a golden, late-August afternoon, we went to Kennebunk Beach with my parents and Taylor. Isaac explored the sand for a while, then pushed his little wagon into the waves. Adam took him into the water, waist-deep, and he laughed and splashed while we watched and took pictures. Daddy and son were gleeful in the waves - two blue-eyed, blond boys playing in water. For those of you who know Maine, the water is not warm. But we were lucky that day - at 68 degrees, it was bearable - and Isaac never asked to come out. We finally saw that he was shivering and his lips were turning blueish, and we decided that was enough swimming...
We went to Kitty Hawk, NC for my cousin's wedding at the end of September. It was still warm enough to get in the water - just not for long. Isaac loved it again, although much of the beach here was washed away by a nor'easter that had come through just days before. You can still see how choppy the waves are. It was a rough ocean for a little guy, and he did get knocked down by a wave. The water washed over his head, and he emerged looking a bit stunned, but he didn't cry. Brave little man!
