To keep Jonah's birthday celebration manageable and fun for him, we just invited his closest baby friends: Bianca, Adler, Holden, Walker and Josie. Walker's family had visitors that weekend, but everyone else was able to come. Lucky for Isaac, that meant he got to have several of his best friends over too - a big, crazy playdate for five 1-yr-olds and four 3-yr-olds. All boys except for Bianca.
The menu was chips and guac, salad, my homemade summer veggie pizza, and of course cake: apple bread with cream cheese icing.
Kids and parents played inside and outside, but we all gathered in the kitchen to sing happy birthday and cut the cake.
Jonah didn't quite know what all the fuss was about, but he seemed to understand that it was about him. And he kind of liked the attention.
Our whole family blew out the candle together.
And Jonah inspected this thick piece of cake on his tray - his first taste of dessert. Then he ate it all and most of a second piece too.
Mmm...icing is good.
Little Adler seemed to know there was a piece of cake up there.
A house full of friends, warmth and laughter to celebrate our baby boy...I felt so lucky that night. Jonah played hard for hours and had the best time ever. Isaac was giddy with excitement after his fun night. Not long after our guests left, both boys were in bed and sleeping hard.
